I am using Charlotte's house for the filming of my video and have asked her parents for their permission to do this, they were more than happy for me to do this and has given me their written consent in the comment below! 

I give permission for Francesca to film her music video in my house and garden, I am happy for her to use which rooms and spaces she wishes in order to finish her A Level project.

Eye make up will be smokey eyes with False eyelashes and heavy eyeliner this is normally a party or special occasion look so adds an air of celebration and sassy-ness about it, it also frames the eyes as she has green/blue eyes and helps to make them stand out. something such as this..

Her lips will be dark red to cause a dramatic effect and add a bit of color into the darkness of the clothes she is wearing, like this...

I think this choice of make up will add a sassy lady like feel to the performer which is what i am aiming for.

Clothing for Emily 

I want her to wear a black Sheer top, to add a bot of sexiness to the video without showing too much flesh as seen below

With this I would pair some black sparkly shorts to add the fun element but still be in keeping with the dark and white color scheme i have present throughout as seen below

Make up for Matt

Matt's Make up will be minimal and just be a light layer of foundation in order to smooth out the skin on camera.


Clothing For Matt

 I don't want Matt to stick out to much and also want him to stick to the dark color scheme
so for his top i have decided on a Black t-shirt without any labels this will not draw any attention to any labels etc and can focus on the acting something like this (excluding the label)...

For his trousers i want him to look bang on fashion so want to place him some dark or black skinny jeans accompanied by some converse or Vans i believe this is up to fashion and fits in with the style of both my video but the actor himself so will ensure he feels comfortable while acting, this can be seen below.

The Track I chose for my Music video is Jessie J's song Mamma Knows Best from her Debut album 'Who You Are' This is one of her less famous songs but I believe one of  the strongest on the album.

The Song has a very 'girl power' theme about it and it shows the strength of a woman who has been done wrong by her partner and the realisation that she needs to move on.
However while singing about an adult situation, it can easily be imagined that this is a childs way of thinking with the talk of the dependence on her parents and that her mother know bests and her daddy will be there to pick her up when she is down.

The 'Big Band' feel of the song is another element that attracted me to the song as it isn't as conventional as some of the large commercial music that is being played in recent times. it also gives the oppurtunity to add character to my main character as the music gives a sassy an independent feel.

Research Into Magazine Articles- Lady Gaga

I found this magazine article advertising Lady Gaga's Second Album

again as seen in the Jessie J advert it uses clear and recogniseable images for the audience to relate too.

  

 

It also shows the actual album so that you can tell exactly what product you are buying,
         The use of quotes from a well known music magazine adds a sense of fame and adds prestigue to the magazine advert.
      I like the use of multi images in the advert to add different views of the artist while creating a noticeable, clear and well known images and also the large lettering whoch stands off the page to instintsly grab the audiences attention.

This Targets lady Gaga fans heavily by using the idea that they idolize her by only using images of her face, she also uses extremities such as the straight cut of extreme hairstyle the over sized rose in her hair and long eyelashes working on the 'haus of Gaga work and her very extreme and out there lifestyle.

Planning- Pitch to my peers.

Today I pitched my ideas to my class for my music video, I explained what ideas i had and what locarions etc i wanted to use, by doing this i was able to point out any flaws in my plan and helped to make some definite decisions.

This was the song I pitched, Jessie J's Mamma Knows Best





The class helped me to think about using multiple locations as I had only pitched one idea to them and that was using a plain white room, it was suggested that I should add at least one other setting to add variety and show that i am able to change locations in my editing.

I pitched to them an idea of using people playing a trombone and trumpet or such instruments as that to fit in with the big band jazz theme of the song, they seemed to think this idea was appropriate and would fit in with the song well.

I had already got my actors in mind so was able to give them an idea of the sort of people i was going to be using

Matt Biddulph- A drama and music student i met through Emily

Both are confident to act and will be great to work with as they have known each other for years making it easy for them to form an on screen realtionship.

As i was not completly sure of some of the aspects of the video i was given an Amber/Green and told to come back if i was unsre or stuck on any scenes etc.

Research-Prelim Task

Shooting - To shoot our music video we used two cameras, every member of the class had their turn to shoot a scene which gave us all the chance to have our fair share of  contribution. We used loads of different angles for the shots to make the video as interesting and close to the original version as possible. Overall we had around 65 shots to take which took us a long time. Our timetable for shooting was lengthend as we needed more time than we initially thought. 

Mise en scene - For our costume, we were all dressed in school uniform. For the girls this consisted of a shirt, cardigan, skirt, knee high socks and hair in pig tails. For the boys this consisted of a shirt, tie and trousers. Key props we used in our video were the pencil, bags, coats and lockers and a clock.  

Editing - The class split into partners so we could all do some of the editing. However, myself and my partner didn't manage to finish our piece piece to go in the video as the software became slow due to the whole class using it at once. This lead to the allocated time being used up and we had to move on before we could complete editing. However, I had used the editing programme before and had experience with it. 

Directing - Every member of the class was given the opportunity to voice their opinion on how they thought a shot could look or be changed to make it more effective. We all discussed each shot to ensure we agreed it was the best way to shoot it. Some of us were more confident than others with how they felt the piece should look, although the class became very harmonious with their views.

Research into Magazine Adverts- Jessie J

 

To gain a better understanding of what i would like to put into my magazine article I researched several different magazine adverts to further my knowledge.  

 

I found this magazine advert for Jessie J's album it mimicked her album cover itself making it recognisable.

 The layout is very simple and clear and gives the needed information to the audience in a precise way. The font is bold and clear and the biggest peice of font is her name, this inforces the idea of her confident image, used against a black background really makes it stand off the page.

From this magazine cover i would like to take away and use the very clear nature of it, i think this is important for a consumer to see as this may make it more accessible for them.

Research- Digipak Analysis

Rhinnas 'Loud' Digipak inolves Little text and many pictures of herself, in all of the pictures she doesnt look directly into the camera, this gives the images a sense of secrecy and and innocence this theme is carried on by the use of simple red and pink flowers. By using red it could symbloise passoin or danger both of which are present in many of her songs, by using the roses this adds a very femine feel and adds to the soft feel that the pictures also show. The simple thin white font is both clear and elegent and fits perfectly with the rest of the feel of images again not distratcing from the key images but making sure they are not overlooked.
 
The layout is simple and folds open to reveal a large three section picture of Rhianna in an elegenat pink dress surrounded by the dark of the green leafs and blood red roses this again afdds to the innocent of secrecy of the other images and shows Rhianna in a pure and innocent light.
 
I like the use of close up images within with Digipak, this is something i would like to recreate on my own Digipak as i think it allows the target audience to connect with the artist as there are no gimics, only them.

 Katy Perry's Teenage Dreams Digipak uses the same imagery used in her videos to front the cover, the brigt colours are very attracrive and fit in with her style and personality. the use of striped candy canes are used throughout making the o's in her songs one of the discs and the album lettering on the front cover.

She uses fantasy imagery such as her lying on candy floss clouds, this is something that many people wished for as as child and links to her 'anything is possible' philosophy. Due to the fact that the thought of candy floss clouds is such a nice image i think it is overlooked that the Artist is actually lying naked upon her cover.

On the back it is made sure that the song names are very clear in compariosn to the other information on the back which has been made sure is very small and not really something that would be read or taken in unless it was really looked at.

The two fonts used for the album name and the artists names are very contrasting with the album name being very solid and her name being bubbly and bright and girly again underpinning Katy Perry's personna.

Its this fun girly imagery that I would like to bring into my Digipak when creating it, as i think it goes along with the song that i have chosen, however i think i would add a tougher twist to this girly imagery to fit the song to its best.

 

I decided to research a digipak of the artist of whos song I would like to use, Jessie J uses a very strong but simple image of herself on the front of her cover, in a lot of her pictures she frames her face with her hands and her lips are always a key feature this creates a strong and confident image.

 

She has a Black and White theme on her album she uses white backgrounds with Black bold writing, her clothes,lips and make up are also all black this makes her pop out from the background and lets you know immediatly how confident and strong she feels in herself.

 

She shows her impotrance by having her name in a strong Gold lettering which breaks the black and gold theme under this she has her album name of 'Who you are' this is small and again goes back to the black and white theme.

 

This Digipak is simple and yet is causes a strong effect and forms an instant impression of the artist and her music, I think this would be something i would like to try and incorporate  into my own digipak as i think the simple effect of this woukd make it dynamic and stand out from other busier Digipaks.

I carried some research into the artist i was planning on using some music from and her record company to see if i could gain any further knowledge that could help me in my task. By doing this i was able to gain a better knowledge of the style of video that would compliment the music well.
